Canadian High Commissioner Chris Cooter Meets CM Siddaramaiah to Strengthen Karnataka Ties
Talks focused on boosting cooperation in trade, technology, energy and people to people relations between Canada and Karnataka.

Bengaluru: Canadian High Commissioner Chris Cooter met Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in Bengaluru on Tuesday to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation between Canada and the state.
According to Deccan Herald, the meeting marked Cooter’s first official bilateral engagement with a southern Indian state since assuming office.
During the discussions, Cooter emphasized Canada’s interest in expanding partnerships with Karnataka in areas such as trade, energy, technology and cultural exchange. He described Bengaluru as one of India’s leading global innovation hubs with strong capabilities in deep technology, research and advanced industries.
He also pointed to the growing presence of Karnataka connected Indian technology companies in Canada. Several major IT firms from the state are operating across different Canadian provinces and providing employment to a large number of people.
Cooter noted that Canada already shares strong ties with Karnataka in sectors including aerospace, infrastructure, advanced manufacturing, life sciences and technology. The meeting focused on exploring new opportunities for collaboration and strengthening existing partnerships between the two sides.
