A group of BJP workers staged a protest outside Mother’s Hut Restaurant near Bhatjangla on National Highway 12 in West Bengal’s Nadia district on July 31, alleging that the restaurant served only halal meat without clearly informing customers.

According to those present, several Hindutva activists entered the restaurant and asked staff and customers about the type of meat being served. Restaurant employees confirmed that only halal meat was available.

The protesters then asked whether jhatka meat was also offered. After being told that it was not, a heated discussion broke out between the activists and the restaurant management. Although the management explained its policy, the protesters said they were not satisfied with the response.

The group later continued its demonstration outside the restaurant for more than two hours. They claimed that Hindu customers should be clearly informed if only halal meat is served and argued that such information should be displayed on the menu.

BJP worker Uday Rajnath said restaurants serving only halal meat should clearly mention it and, where possible, provide jhatka meat as an alternative for customers who prefer that option.

Police from Krishnanagar Kotwali Police Station reached the spot after receiving information about the protest. Officers spoke with both the protesters and the restaurant representatives, bringing the situation under control.

The protest concluded peacefully, and no incidents of violence or injuries were reported.
