Bhatkal Taluk Hospital Tops Uttara Kannada, Secures 37th Rank in Karnataka Under AB RK Scheme
Government hospital earns recognition for effectively delivering cashless healthcare services under the Ayushman Bharat Arogya Karnataka programme.

Bhatkal: In a significant achievement for the region’s public healthcare system, Bhatkal Taluk Government Hospital has secured the top position in Uttara Kannada district and ranked 37th across Karnataka under the Ayushman Bharat Arogya Karnataka (AB RK) scheme.
The ranking reflects the hospital’s commendable performance in implementing the health insurance programme and ensuring that eligible patients receive quality cashless treatment services.
The Ayushman Bharat Arogya Karnataka scheme is a major healthcare initiative aimed at providing free and affordable medical treatment to economically weaker sections through an integrated health insurance framework. Hospitals are assessed based on various parameters, including the number of beneficiaries served, efficiency in claim processing, availability of diagnostic services, and overall delivery of healthcare benefits.
Health officials stated that Bhatkal Taluk Hospital has made notable progress in recent years by improving administrative systems, strengthening patient assistance services, and expanding access to specialized medical care. These efforts have enabled the hospital to extend the benefits of government healthcare schemes to a larger number of people and reduce the financial burden on vulnerable families.
The achievement comes despite the challenges faced by many rural healthcare institutions, including shortages of specialist doctors and increasing patient inflow. Authorities credited the dedication of doctors, nurses, data operators, and other hospital staff for maintaining high standards of service.
Officials expressed hope that this recognition would help the hospital secure additional funding, advanced medical equipment, and further strengthening of healthcare infrastructure in the future.
