Bhatkal: Residents of Bhatkal staged a unique protest against the poor condition of the road leading to the Government Hospital by planting saplings inside large potholes on the damaged stretch. Through the symbolic act, citizens and vehicle owners sought to draw the attention of the authorities toward the long pending road issue.

According to local residents, the road from Sagar Road to the Government Hospital has remained in a neglected condition for a long time. Several deep potholes, uneven surfaces, and rainwater accumulation have made the route dangerous for commuters.

The road is frequently used by patients, pregnant women, elderly citizens, and family members visiting the hospital. Residents said the damaged condition of the road has caused serious inconvenience for people who depend on this route for accessing healthcare services.

The protesters pointed out that the situation becomes worse during the rainy season as water-filled potholes become difficult to notice, increasing the risk of accidents for motorists and pedestrians.

They urged the concerned authorities to take immediate steps to repair the road, fill the potholes, and complete proper resurfacing work. Residents said urgent action is necessary to ensure the safety of patients and the general public using this important road.
