Bhatkal: A special programme was held in Bhatkal on July 1 to mark National Press Day. The event was organised by the Bhatkal Taluk Working Journalists Association, Karnataka, at New English School and College and was attended by journalists, dignitaries, and students.

The function was presided over by the association’s President, Mohan Naik. Uttar Kannada Working Journalists Association Vice President Maruti Naik attended as the chief guest. Former Anjuman College Principal Zamirullah Sharif and the Principal of New English School were also present as special guests.

Continuing its annual tradition, the association honoured a prominent social worker for his contribution to society. Yoga instructor and social worker Govind Guruji was felicitated with a shawl and a certificate of appreciation in recognition of his dedicated service.

The association also recognised the contribution of newspaper distributors, who play an important role in delivering news to the public every day. This year, newspaper distributor Manjuna Devadiga was honoured with a shawl and a certificate for his service.

Several journalists from Bhatkal participated in the programme, while students of New English School and College attended the event as part of the audience.

Speakers at the function highlighted the importance of responsible journalism and the vital role of the media in strengthening society. They also appreciated the efforts of journalists who continue to serve the public by delivering accurate and reliable information.
