Bhatkal Disputed Site Reported Safe, Families Seek Clarity Over Police Questioning
Amid rumours and public concern, families say some youths were questioned by police, while an official clarification is awaited.

Bhatkal: Public concern continued in Bhatkal following recent tension around the disputed site. A Kannada report by PublicNext stated that the site is safe and appealed to people not to believe rumours or unverified messages.
Meanwhile, some families have expressed concern over what they describe as police questioning of youths from different locations in Bhatkal. According to family members, a few boys were allegedly taken for questioning yesterday evening and released later in the night.
Parents claim that they were not clearly informed about the reason for the questioning. They have requested the authorities to share proper information so that confusion and fear do not spread among the public.
In one case, family members claimed that a youth named Noor Ibad was in Mysuru at the time of the incident and returned to Bhatkal later. They said he was also questioned after returning to town. Fikrokhabar could not independently verify this claim at the time of writing.
Local media persons also said that clear official information has not yet been shared regarding the ongoing police action. Details such as how many people were questioned, whether any minors were involved and whether any cases have been registered are still awaited from the authorities.
The situation remains sensitive, and residents have been urged not to believe rumours or circulate unverified messages on WhatsApp and social media. Community leaders have also appealed for calm and cooperation with the administration.
While maintaining law and order is the responsibility of the police, families have requested that proper communication be maintained, especially when young people are called for questioning. An official clarification from the police is expected to help address concerns and prevent further misinformation.
Fikrokhabar will update the report once an official response is received from the police or administration.
