Bhatkal Disputed Site Remains Intact, Uttara Kannada Administration Warns Against Rumours
Deputy Commissioner’s office says the original site is unchanged and cautions that legal action will be taken against those spreading false information online.

Bhatkal: The Uttara Kannada district administration has issued a fresh clarification regarding the disputed site in Bhatkal, urging the public not to believe rumours being circulated on social media.
According to the clarification issued by the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Uttara Kannada, the site traditionally used for placing the offering remains in its original condition. The administration said that false messages are being spread in a way that suggests the original site has been damaged.
The clarification stated that during the widening and development work of National Highway 66 passing through Bhatkal, a new structure was being built with red stones on government land available within the NHAI right of way area. This was being done to avoid inconvenience to the public during the road work.
The administration said that on May 24, 2026, some miscreants damaged the newly built structure. It added that legal action is already being taken against those responsible.
However, the Deputy Commissioner’s office made it clear that the original disputed site remains unchanged. The administration appealed to the public not to trust misleading posts or messages suggesting otherwise.
Officials also warned that anyone posting or spreading false and incorrect information on social media will face action under the law.
The clarification comes amid concern in Bhatkal following social media posts and local discussions around the issue. The administration has asked citizens to remain calm, avoid rumours and rely only on official information.
