Maulana Muhammad Ilyas Nadwi Addresses Students on Contemporary Methods of Islamic Outreach
As part of the visit, an academic session titled Contemporary Methods of Islamic Outreach was organised at the historic Jamalia Hall in the hostel named after the renowned scholar Allama Shibli Nomani.
Maulana Muhammad Ilyas Nadwi, founder and general secretary of the Maulana Abul Hasan Ali Nadwi Islamic Academy in Bhatkal, delivered a lecture to the students on the importance of adapting methods of Islamic outreach to the needs of the present age.
He explained that inviting people towards Islam is an established duty rooted in the Quran and Sunnah, while the methods used to convey its message can vary according to changing circumstances, the needs of the time and the understanding of the audience.
Referring to the Quranic guidance on wisdom, good counsel and engaging with people in the best possible manner, he emphasised that modern communication tools and effective approaches can be used for Islamic outreach as long as they remain within the boundaries of Islamic teachings.
He said the central objective must always be to convey the message of Islam with wisdom, sincerity, understanding and concern for others. While the purpose of Islamic outreach remains unchanged, permissible methods can be adapted to suit different situations.
Maulana Muhammad Ilyas Nadwi encouraged students to take an active role in Islamic outreach, understand contemporary challenges and use their abilities to serve the faith with wisdom and insight.
Jamia Islamia Bhatkal Rector Maulana Maqbool Ahmad Nadwi also addressed the gathering.
Special Meeting with Students from Bhatkal
A separate meeting was organised for students from Bhatkal studying at Nadwatul Ulama. During the session, Maulana Maqbool Ahmad Nadwi urged them to follow the institution’s rules and regulations and conduct their affairs in accordance with its guidelines.
He reminded the students that they had travelled a considerable distance to pursue their education and should remain focused on that primary objective. He described their time at the institution as a valuable opportunity to develop their abilities and encouraged them to make the best possible use of it to achieve academic success.
The General Secretary of Majlis Islah wa Tanzeem, Bhatkal, introduced the organisation and explained the importance of its reform-oriented mission. He encouraged the students to contribute to its activities to the best of their abilities.
He also pointed out that the responsibility of social and moral reform does not end in one particular place. After completing their studies, students may serve in different professional and social fields, but they can continue contributing to reform wherever they live and work.
Maulana Musaddiq Nadwi, General Secretary of the Nadwatul Ulama Alumni Association in Dubai, advised the students to preserve their religious and scholarly identity wherever life takes them.
