Bhatkal Celebrates 80th Independence Day with Flag Hoistings Across the Town
Schools, colleges, government offices, community organisations and residents joined the celebrations despite persistent monsoon showers.
Bhatkal joined the nation in celebrating the 80th Independence Day today Saturday, with flag hoisting ceremonies held across schools, colleges, madrasas, government offices, sports centres, community organisations and public institutions.
The celebrations were held at several prominent locations across the town, including the Taluka Stadium at YMSA Ground, the City Municipal Council building, educational institutions and offices of various government departments.
The Majlis e Islah Wa Tanzeem Bhatkal held its Independence Day programme with President Enayatullah Shabandari hoisting the national flag.
At Jamia Islamia Bhatkal, the flag was hoisted by Moulana Abdul Aleem Qasimi.
Anjuman Hami e Muslimeen Bhatkal organised a joint Independence Day celebration at the IAUHS Ground. The institutions under Anjuman Hami e Muslimeen first conducted flag hoisting ceremonies at their respective campuses before gathering together for the main programme. Anjuman President Yunus Kaziya hoisted the flag on the occasion.
At the Taluka Stadium, YMSA Ground in Nawayath Colony, Bhatkal Assistant Commissioner J. Mahesh hoisted the national flag.
At the City Municipal Council building, Municipal Commissioner Baba Saheb Mane led the flag hoisting ceremony.
Educational institutions across Bhatkal also marked the occasion with patriotic programmes. At Ali Public School and PU College, the flag was hoisted by Moulana Tanveer Joshiddi. Shams School and PU College held its ceremony with Muzammil Ruknuddin.
At Anjuman PU College, College Board Secretary Fayyaz Kola hoisted the flag, while Anjuman Boys High School held its ceremony under the leadership of Headmaster Abdullah Umar Ruknuddin.
Independence Day programmes were also organised by local government offices, the police department, the Assistant Commissioner’s office, the Forest Department, taxi and auto unions, sports centres and various local organisations.
Children added a festive touch to the celebrations, with many dressed in the colours of the Tricolour and participating enthusiastically in the programmes. Students were seen carrying small national flags and taking part in patriotic activities.
Across Bhatkal and other coastal towns, streets and public venues were decorated with the national flag and colourful buntings. Despite the continuing monsoon rain and challenging weather conditions along the coast, people came together to mark the occasion with enthusiasm.
Flag hoisting ceremonies, cultural programmes and other events were conducted with necessary safety precautions as intermittent showers continued throughout the celebrations.
The widespread participation reflected the patriotic spirit of Bhatkal, with people from different sections of society coming together to celebrate Independence Day.
