Bainul Jamaati Council Elects Maulvi Abdul Raqeeb MJ Nadwi as Convener, Abdul Wajid Kola as Deputy Convener
New leadership takes charge for a five year term to implement key resolutions of the Fifth Inter Jamaat Conference and address the community’s educational, economic and social priorities.
Bhatkal: The Inter Jamaat Council in Bhatkal has taken an important step towards implementing the resolutions adopted at the Fifth Inter Jamaat Conference, with the election of new office bearers for the next five years.
At a key council meeting held on August 27, 2026, Maulvi Abdul Raqeeb MJ Nadwi was unanimously elected as convener, while Abdul Wajid Kola was chosen as deputy convener.
The Fifth Inter Jamaat Conference was held from January 17 to 19, 2026, at MM Resort in Shirur. Separate general meetings for men and women were subsequently held on February 11 and 12.
The conference discussed a wide range of issues concerning the Bhatkal community, including education, economic development, social reform and community welfare.
Among the key resolutions were measures to improve student guidance and character building, strengthen night schools, promote adult education and develop effective strategies for political and civic leadership.
The conference also discussed planning for the election of municipal and panchayat representatives, better access to government welfare schemes, and business and investment opportunities for educated and unemployed youth.
Several social concerns were also addressed, including substance abuse, moral decline and harmful practices associated with engagements and marriages. Proposals were also made to establish interest free financial institutions and address the rising number of cases involving divorce and khula.
Other resolutions included strengthening mosques as centres for community reform, ensuring timely distribution of inheritance, creating a digital database of the Bhatkal community, improving implementation of collective decisions, reducing unnecessary spending on sports and promoting unity, brotherhood and religious harmony.
A 32 member Inter Jamaat Council has been formed to put these decisions into practice. The council includes representatives from five major Bhatkal institutions, namely Majlis Islah wa Tanzeem, Anjuman Hami e Muslimeen, Jamia Islamia, Jamaat ul Muslimeen and Markazi Khalifa Jamaat ul Muslimeen.
Representatives from the Bhatkal Muslim Gulf Council, Indian Nawayath Forum, Bhatkal Muslim Youth Federation and Abna e Jamia Islamia are also part of the council.
Muneri Ateeq ur Rahman, convener of the Fifth Inter Jamaat Conference, congratulated the newly elected convener Maulvi Abdul Raqeeb MJ Nadwi and deputy convener Abdul Wajid Kola through a press statement.
He expressed hope that the new leadership would use its experience and abilities to make the Inter Jamaat Council an active platform for the community and work towards ensuring effective implementation of the resolutions adopted at the conference.
