B K Hariprasad Appointed New Karnataka Congress President
Senior Congress leader B K Hariprasad takes charge of the Karnataka Congress as the party completes a major leadership transition in the state.

Bengaluru: In a significant organizational reshuffle, the Congress high command has appointed senior party leader B K Hariprasad as the new President of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee. He succeeds D K Shivakumar, who recently assumed office as Karnataka’s Chief Minister.
The announcement came just hours after D K Shivakumar and 13 cabinet ministers took oath, marking the completion of a smooth leadership transition within the state Congress unit.
The development follows the resignation of Siddaramaiah from the Chief Minister’s post on Thursday, in line with directions issued by the party leadership.
In an official statement released by AICC General Secretary K C Venugopal, the Congress leadership confirmed that B K Hariprasad’s appointment takes immediate effect. The party also expressed appreciation for the contributions and leadership of outgoing KPCC President D K Shivakumar during his tenure.
Alongside his new organizational role, Hariprasad has also been nominated as the Congress candidate for the upcoming Karnataka Legislative Council elections.
A veteran Congress leader, Hariprasad has held several important organizational responsibilities across different states. He is currently serving as the party’s in charge for Haryana and is expected to step down from that position in the near future as he takes on his new responsibilities in Karnataka.
