Al Ma’had Al Islami and Madrasa Tanveerul Islam Hold Seminar on the Importance of the Arabic Language
Students encouraged to strengthen their Arabic communication skills through regular practice and deeper engagement with the language of the Quran.

Murdeshwar: A scholarly seminar highlighting the importance and benefits of the Arabic language was jointly organized by Al Ma’had Al Islami and Madrasa Tanveerul Islam on Thursday, June 11, following Asr prayers at Madrasa Tanveerul Islam.
The programme was attended by students of Madrasa Tanveerul Islam as well as students from Murdeshwar currently pursuing their studies at Jamia Islamia Bhatkal.
The event began with a welcome address by Maulana Sharaf Alam, who described the enthusiastic participation of students as a reflection of their love for knowledge and interest in learning Arabic. This was followed by valuable guidance and advice from Maulana Abdul Rahim. The programme was also attended by Maulana Fathullah Jukka Nadvi and Maulana Fayyaz Nadvi.
Delivering the keynote lecture, Maulana Hammad Karimi Nadvi spoke in detail about the significance of the Arabic language, the need to learn it, and practical methods for mastering it. He emphasized that the foremost reason for learning Arabic is that it is the language of the Holy Quran. He noted that Muslims communicate with their Creator through prayer and should therefore understand the meanings of the words and verses they recite during worship.
He further explained that the modern era is one of specialization and expertise, and a strong command of Arabic is essential for anyone seeking advanced knowledge in any branch of Islamic studies. Addressing the students, he pointed out that madrasa students already possess an advantage because of their familiarity with Arabic grammar, vocabulary, and expressions. What remains necessary, he said, is consistent practice and regular conversation in the language.
Maulana Hammad also stressed that learning Arabic with the intention of serving and connecting with the language of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ transforms the effort into an act of worship. He highlighted the deep connection between a Muslim and the Arabic language, noting that Arabic words accompany a believer throughout every stage of life.
Encouraging students to improve their language skills, he advised them to develop the habit of speaking Arabic for at least five minutes each day. He identified reading, writing, speaking, and listening as the four essential pillars of language acquisition. While reading and writing often receive greater attention in educational institutions, he said speaking and listening practice are equally important for achieving fluency.
At the conclusion of the seminar, a practical initiative was launched to promote Arabic language proficiency among students. Under the plan, a topic will be assigned every week for study and preparation. Students will then present their views and participate in speech exercises in Arabic every Thursday under the supervision of Maulana Nabigh Balgi.
