Air India Express Dubai Flight Cancellation Triggers Passenger Protest at Kannur Airport
Passengers protest after a Dubai bound flight was cancelled and another flight to Thiruvananthapuram was delayed for several hours.
Kannur: Passengers staged a protest at Kannur International Airport on Monday following the cancellation of an Air India Express flight to Dubai and a prolonged delay to another flight bound for Thiruvananthapuram.
According to airport sources, passengers expressed their anger at airline staff, alleging that they were not given sufficient advance information about the changes to their flights.
Visuals broadcast by television channels showed passengers confronting airline personnel at the airport and raising concerns over the disruption.
The Air India Express flight from Kannur to Thiruvananthapuram was scheduled to depart at around 7 am. However, the flight was delayed by several hours.
An airline source disputed the passengers’ allegations and said that those travelling on the flight had been informed about the delay in advance.
Another group of passengers faced disruption after the Air India Express flight from Kannur to Dubai, scheduled to leave at around 9 am, was cancelled.
Airport sources said the Dubai flight was cancelled after the aircraft operating the Muscat to Kannur service was grounded in Muscat because of technical problems.
Passengers affected by the cancellation were reportedly offered the option of receiving a refund or rescheduling their journey.
The incident led to heightened frustration among passengers at the airport, particularly those who had travel plans linked to the cancelled Dubai service.
Air India Express had not issued an official response to the cancellation at the time of reporting.
