Scholars emphasize the need to align modern education with the true spirit and teachings of the Quran.

Bhatkal: Abdul Majid, son of Zaheer Kashimji, has successfully completed the memorization of the Holy Quran while continuing his regular school education at New Shams School. Under the guidance of Maulvi Ahmed Furqan Ruknuddin Nadvi, he achieved this milestone in just three years, becoming the first student in the history of New Shams School, Bhatkal, to earn the distinction of being a Hafiz of the Quran.
A special ceremony was organized at Dr. M.T. Hasan Bapa Hall to mark the occasion. During the event, Maulana Mohammed Iqbal Naite Nadvi, a teacher at Jamia Islamia Bhatkal, formally completed his recitation and congratulated Abdul Majid, his parents, and the school management on this remarkable achievement.
Currently a ninth grade student, Abdul Majid balanced his academic studies with the demanding task of Quran memorization. His dedication and hard work played a key role in his success. His mother also provided constant encouragement and support throughout the journey.
Addressing the gathering, Maulana Iqbal Nadvi said that combining modern education with Quran memorization is an important need of the present time. He noted that completing the memorization of the entire Quran in such a short period reflects not only the student’s determination but also the commitment of his teachers and the institution towards both religious and academic excellence.
He further stated that memorizing the Quran is a great blessing and source of reward, but understanding its message and implementing its teachings in daily life is equally important. He stressed that educational curricula should be designed in a way that helps young people understand the universal message and true spirit of the Quran.
Maulana Iqbal Nadvi also led the completion prayer and presented Abdul Majid with a certificate and a cash award in recognition of his accomplishment.
Presiding over the function, School Chairman Nazeer Ahmed Quazi said that the Quran is not merely a book for recitation but a complete guide for all aspects of human life. He emphasized that positive change in society can be achieved when people incorporate Quranic teachings into their character, behavior, and social dealings. He urged students and parents to maintain a strong connection with the Quran and practice its teachings.
Abdul Majid’s mother also shared her thoughts during the program, expressing gratitude to Allah and happiness over her son’s achievement.
The event began with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Syed Sabit, son of Maulana Syed Qutub Barmavar. A speech on the Quran was delivered by Syed Salif. The welcome address was presented by Ziaur Rahman Ruknuddin, while the program was skillfully conducted by senior teacher Maulvi Abdullah Rabee Khalifa Nadvi, who also delivered the vote of thanks.
