19 Year Old College Student Found Dead in Well in Bhatkal
Missing since Thursday, her body was discovered in a well near her home on Friday.
Tragedy struck a family in Bhatkal taluk on Friday when a 19 year old college student who had been missing for a day was found dead in a well. The young woman was identified as Gayathri Nagaraj Naik.
Gayathri was a second year Bachelor of Computer Applications student at a local college. She lived with her family in Kanchi Keri, a locality in Belke village. Her family last saw her on Thursday. When she did not return, they grew worried and filed a missing person complaint at the Bhatkal Rural Police Station.
Police immediately launched a search operation. On Friday afternoon, around 2.30 pm, they found her body in a well located near her house.
Initial observations by the police point to the possibility of suicide. However, they have made it clear that the exact cause of death will only be confirmed once the postmortem report is available.
A case has been registered at the Bhatkal Rural Police Station. The body has been sent for postmortem examination. Officials have stated that further investigation into the incident is underway.
