10 Ambitious Projects to Be Implemented in 100 Days, Says Minister Lakshman Savadi
Uttara Kannada to receive a major development push with a focus on farmers, jobs, infrastructure, healthcare and education.
Karwar: Cooperation Minister and Uttara Kannada District In Charge Minister Lakshman Savadi has announced that 10 ambitious projects will be implemented across the state within the next 100 days to speed up governance and strengthen development initiatives focused on farmers, youth and infrastructure.
Speaking after hoisting the national flag at the 80th Independence Day celebrations at the Police Parade Ground in Karwar, Savadi said several public welfare programmes would be rolled out soon. These include initiatives such as Raitha Mitra Badavara Bandhu, Gramanu Bhava, Yuva Yuga Yuva Karnataka Nirmana, Yuva Udyoga Sethu, Nasha Mukta Karnataka and Bhoomi Guarantee.
The minister also said steps were being taken to fill vacant posts in various government departments through a transparent recruitment process. Notifications for several recruitments have already been issued, he added.
Savadi said thousands of families in Uttara Kannada had benefited from the government’s guarantee schemes. Under programmes including Shakti, Gruha Lakshmi, Gruha Jyothi, Anna Bhagya and Yuva Nidhi, financial assistance running into thousands of crores of rupees has been distributed in the district.
The district recorded a 16 percent rainfall deficit during the current monsoon. To prevent drinking water shortages, precautionary measures have been taken, including the arrangement of 72 private borewells. An allocation of Rs. 1 crore has also been released for each Assembly constituency.
In the education sector, the government has planned to develop 25 schools through CSR funding. These institutions will provide education from LKG to Class 12.
Under the employment guarantee programme, thousands of workers have been provided jobs, while around 12,000 development works are currently underway across the district, Savadi said.
The minister also announced that a 300 bed super speciality hospital has been sanctioned for the district. Rs. 100 crore has already been released for the first phase of the project. The hospital will have MRI and CT scan facilities, while a dedicated cancer care unit is planned for the future.
Remembering the sacrifices of those who fought for India’s independence, Savadi urged people to work together for the country’s unity and integrity. He called upon citizens to set aside differences based on caste, religion and language and contribute to the state’s development.
MLA Satish Sail, Legislative Council Member Ganapati Ulvekar, Deputy Commissioner K. Lakshmipriya and Superintendent of Police Deepan M. N., along with several other dignitaries, attended the event.
Students from various schools and colleges also took part in an impressive parade and cultural programmes, which added colour to the Independence Day celebrations.
