₹50 Lakh Needed for Treatment of 20 Year Old Thalassemia Patient from Bhatkal
Muhammad Danish has required regular blood transfusions since infancy as family appeals to well wishers for financial assistance
Bhatkal: A 20 year old resident of Jamia Abad in Bhatkal, Muhammad Danish ibn Ahmed Umar Sheikh, who has been living with thalassemia since infancy, is now seeking financial assistance for a major treatment in Bengaluru that doctors have recommended as a possible path towards relief from the condition.
According to his family, the treatment and surgery are expected to cost around ₹50 lakh, an amount that is beyond the family’s financial capacity. A fundraising campaign is currently being carried out through social media, while the Central Jamaat ul Muslimeen Tengangundi and the family have appealed to philanthropists and well wishers to contribute towards his treatment.
Danish was diagnosed with thalassemia when he was around one year old. Since his body does not produce sufficient blood naturally, he has required regular blood transfusions for nearly two decades. According to the family, he has been taken to KMC Hospital, Manipal, approximately every 15 days for blood transfusions.
Despite limited financial resources, his parents have continued to care for him and support his treatment over the years.
Doctors have now recommended that Danish undergo a complex procedure at a reputed hospital in Bengaluru. According to those supporting his treatment, three other patients from the region have previously undergone similar procedures successfully, giving the family hope that the treatment could provide a significant improvement in his condition.
However, the estimated cost of ₹50 lakh remains a major financial challenge for the family.
The office bearers of the Markazi Jamaat ul Muslimeen Tengangundi and concerned members of the community have appealed to people to come forward and support Danish’s treatment according to their means.
They urged philanthropists, community members and well wishers to contribute towards the medical expenses and help the young patient receive the treatment recommended by doctors.
