Widespread Rains Lash Kerala; Yellow Alert Issued for Seven Districts
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) warns of heavy rainfall and thunderstorms in southern districts as the northeast monsoon intensifies.

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala is currently experiencing widespread rainfall as the northeast monsoon remains active across the region. On Monday, the rains intensified, prompting weather officials to issue warnings for specific areas.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has declared a yellow alert for seven southern districts. A yellow alert is issued to warn the public of heavy rainfall ranging between 6 cm and 11 cm.
According to the latest weather update, moderate to heavy rains are expected today in the following districts:
- Thiruvananthapuram
- Kollam
- Pathanamthitta
- Alappuzha
- Kottayam
- Ernakulam
- Idukki
Weather officials stated that heavy rains are very likely to occur in isolated places within these districts. The IMD also warned that the rainfall may be accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds. Residents are advised to remain cautious.
