A spate of Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip has killed at least 20 Palestinians, including four children, and wounded 83 others in the past 24 hours, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.

The latest violence, which occurred during the morning rush hour, saw displaced families targeted as they traveled to bakeries and markets. Reports from Gaza City indicate that at least 22 people were killed within a two-hour span, many of them inside cars, shelters, or the remnants of their homes.

This surge in fatalities brings the total number of Palestinians killed since the October 10 ceasefire to at least 318, with 788 injured. The overall death toll from the conflict, which began in October 2023, has now risen to 69,733.

The attacks serve as a stark reminder that the underlying war has not ended. Despite the US-brokered truce now in its sixth week, the persistent, deadly strikes have created a traumatizing environment of uncertainty for civilians, who face a “slow, steady pattern of killing” even in areas they perceived as safer.
