Uttara Kannada on Orange Alert as Heavy Rains and Strong Winds Forecasted

Fikrokhabar | Bengaluru: The Meteorological Center in Bengaluru has issued an Orange Alert for the Uttara Kannada district, warning of severe weather conditions expected to impact the region. The alert, issued on Friday, August 29, 2025, will remain in effect until the morning of August 30.
According to the forecast, the district is likely to experience heavy rainfall, with precipitation expected to be between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm. The warning also includes predictions of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and strong, gusty winds reaching speeds of 40-50 kmph.
An Orange Alert signifies a “Warning” and calls for residents and authorities to “Be Prepared To Take Action.” Citizens are advised to stay cautious, avoid venturing into vulnerable areas, and stay updated on advisories issued by local disaster management authorities.
The adverse weather conditions are not limited to Uttara Kannada. Several other coastal and Malnad districts, including Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, and Kodagu, have also been placed under an Orange Alert. A Yellow Alert, indicating a “Watch,” has been issued for neighbouring districts such as Belagavi, Haveri, and Hassan.
Authorities are monitoring the situation closely and are prepared to respond to any potential disruptions caused by the intense weather.
