The move comes after Washington demanded that Tehran restore access to the vital Strait of Hormuz, a key route for global oil shipments.
The ceasefire is tied to Iran allowing safe movement of oil and gas through the strait, which handles a significant share of the world’s energy trade. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi indicated that Iran would pause its retaliatory actions, signalling willingness to comply with the agreement.
