UN Chief Calls for International Security Force in Gaza
Secretary-General Antonio Guterres urges UN-mandated peacekeepers to maintain ceasefire, despite Israeli opposition.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has stated that a United Nations-mandated international security force is necessary to maintain peace in Gaza and ensure the current ceasefire holds.
In an interview with Al Jazeera, Guterres emphasized that such a force would help stabilize the situation and support the delivery of humanitarian aid. However, Israel has consistently opposed any direct UN involvement in Gaza’s security arrangements.
The proposal comes amid ongoing tensions and repeated violations of the truce, with international bodies pushing for a more sustainable peace framework.
Guterres did not specify which countries might contribute to the force but stressed the importance of multilateral support to prevent a return to full-scale conflict.
