On Friday evening, August 29, Umrah pilgrims at the Grand Mosque in Makkah experienced a memorable Maghrib prayer as rain poured down over the holy site. As the athan (call to prayer) rang out, thousands of faithful prepared to worship, unfazed by the unexpected weather.

Led by Imam Sheikh Maher Al Muaiqly, the congregation bowed in prayer on the wet marble surrounding the Kaaba. Some worshippers sheltered themselves with scarves, prayer mats, or umbrellas, while others embraced the rainfall as a spiritual blessing. A video shared by Haramain on social media captured the serene scene, showing the calm determination of pilgrims as they performed their rituals in harmony.

Officials continue to monitor conditions and encourage everyone to prioritize safety while fulfilling their religious duties.

Despite the heavy rain, the atmosphere remained peaceful and reverent, highlighting the pilgrims’ devotion and unity. Local authorities the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) issued a yellow alert for the region due to ongoing moderate rainfall, strong winds, and reduced visibility. The NCM advised residents and visitors to be cautious, especially when traveling or participating in outdoor activities, as the weather is expected to stay unstable.
