UAE Unveils 6G Initiative After Breakthrough Regional Test
TDRA launches national 6G plan following record 145 Gbps pilot by e& UAE and NYU Abu Dhabi.

The UAE’s Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) has launched the country’s 6G Initiative, marking a key milestone in the nation’s digital transformation efforts.
This announcement comes shortly after e& UAE and New York University Abu Dhabi achieved the Middle East’s first successful 6G Terahertz pilot in October. The test reached a record data speed of 145 gigabits per second (Gbps), showcasing the remarkable potential of 6G technology.
The pilot highlighted 6G’s ability to deliver extremely fast, low-latency connectivity and enable next-generation innovations such as holographic telepresence, extended reality (XR), digital twins, and high-capacity backhaul networks.
According to TDRA, the new 6G Initiative will bring together experts from government bodies, telecom operators, research institutions, and international technology companies to advance 6G research and development in the UAE.
Engineer Mohammed Al Ramsi, Deputy Director General for the Telecommunications Sector at TDRA, said the program reflects the UAE’s ongoing commitment to innovation. He emphasized that the nation is “building on a legacy of achievements” to create a smart, hyper-connected society that supports growth and national progress.
