UAE President Calls for Peace on Prophet’s Birthday
The United Arab Emirates will observe a public holiday on Friday, September 5, to mark the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), creating a three-day weekend for residents across the country.
UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan issued a thoughtful message commemorating the occasion, highlighting the Prophet’s teachings of compassion and understanding.
“On the anniversary of the birth of the Prophet (peace be upon him), we reflect on his enduring legacy of understanding and compassion for the welfare of others,” the President stated. “We pray to God to bless the world with stability, unity, and peace.”
The holiday applies to both private and public sector workers throughout the UAE. Since weekends in the country fall on Saturday and Sunday, employees will benefit from an extended three-day break. Public sector workers in Sharjah, who already receive Fridays off as part of their regular weekend schedule, will also observe the holiday.
The religious occasion corresponds with 12 Rabi Al Awwal on the Islamic Hijri calendar, a date celebrated by Muslims worldwide to honor the birth of Prophet Muhammad.
In Dubai, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced special arrangements for the holiday. All public parking spaces will be free of charge on Friday, with the exception of multi-level parking facilities and Al Khail Gate Parking (N.365).
The Prophet’s birthday celebration reflects the UAE’s commitment to honoring Islamic traditions while promoting messages of peace and unity that resonate both locally and internationally.
This holiday marks another significant religious observance in the UAE’s calendar, demonstrating the nation’s dedication to preserving cultural and spiritual heritage while fostering harmony among its diverse population.
