UAE Backs Growing Recognition of Palestine, Urges Renewed Push for Two-State Solution

The United Arab Emirates has welcomed the recent decision by a number of countries to formally recognize the State of Palestine. The UAE stated that this growing international consensus is a positive move towards ending the long-standing conflict.
The statements were made during a major global conference held in New York on Monday. The conference, which focused on finding a peaceful two-state solution, took place alongside the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
This week, nations including France, Belgium, and Luxembourg announced their recognition of Palestine. They joined other countries like Australia, Canada, and Malta, who made similar announcements over the weekend.
The UAE commended these decisions, stating that they show a shared global understanding. The only way to move past decades of violence, the UAE emphasized, is by working towards the goal of two independent states Israel and Palestine living side-by-side in peace and security.
The UAE also thanked Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and France’s President Emmanuel Macron for leading the conference and supporting its outcomes.
The country reaffirmed its firm belief that true peace in the Middle East is impossible until the Palestinian people have their own independent and sovereign state. The two-state solution, it stressed, is the essential foundation for Israel’s acceptance in the region and the only path to a secure future for both Palestinians and Israelis.
The UAE’s high-level participation in the conference, combined with the wave of new recognitions for Palestine, helps build momentum for international peace efforts. It also reinforces the legitimate right of the Palestinian people to self-determination.
Ahead of the conference, the UAE co-sponsored a UN General Assembly resolution supporting the two-state solution, which was passed with 142 countries in favor.
The UAE pledged to continue working with its regional and international partners to achieve a just and lasting settlement to the conflict. It vowed to remain an active supporter of the Palestinian people’s aspirations for peace and dignity.
