Bengaluru: In a heartbreaking incident on the outskirts of Bengaluru, two nursing students lost their lives after being hit by the Vande Bharat Express train.

The accident took place on Monday. Police have identified the victims as Sterlin Eliza Shaji (19) and Justin Joseph (20). Both students were originally from Kerala and were in their first year of studying BSc Nursing at a private college in the city.

How the Accident Happened According to police reports, the incident occurred around 2:35 PM on Sunday near the Chikkabanavara railway station.

The two students were reportedly crossing the railway tracks to get to their Paying Guest (PG) accommodation nearby. As they were crossing, they were struck by the Vande Bharat train, which was traveling from Bengaluru to Belagavi.

Police officials stated that both students died on the spot due to the severe impact.

Investigation Underway The authorities are currently investigating the exact cause of the tragedy. A senior railway police officer mentioned that they are examining CCTV footage from the area. This will help them determine if the deaths were accidental or if there is a possibility of suicide.

An Unnatural Death Report (UDR) has been filed at the Bengaluru Rural Railway Police Station, and the investigation is continuing.
