Three Teachers Suspended in Udupi for Skipping Backward Classes Survey Duty
District administration cites negligence after teachers refuse to report for government-assigned enumeration work.

Udupi (Fikrokhabar News): The Udupi district administration has suspended three government teachers for failing to report for duty in the ongoing Social and Educational Survey being conducted by the Karnataka State Commission for Backward Classes.
The suspension order, issued on October 4 by Deputy Commissioner Swaroop T.K., names the suspended staff as Surekha and Ratna, both teachers at Government High School, Inna Kadu, and Prabha B., a lecturer at Government Pre-University College, Udyavara.
According to officials, the three educators were assigned roles as enumerators in the large-scale state-wide survey but refused to accept their appointment orders, even after being contacted multiple times by phone. Notices were served asking for an explanation, but the teachers allegedly failed to respond or offer valid reasons for their absence.
Labeling their conduct as negligence and non-cooperation in government work, the Deputy Commissioner ordered their immediate suspension, effective from October 4.
In a strong warning, Swaroop T.K. stated that strict disciplinary action would be taken against any other enumerators who neglect their responsibilities during the survey period.
The Social and Educational Survey, which is being carried out across Karnataka until October 7, involves over 1.75 lakh enumerators many of them government school teachers and aims to collect crucial data on socio-economic conditions to support policy planning and social justice efforts.
