Bhatkal: Horn Dispute Turns Violent, Two Youths Stabbed, Three Arrested
What began as a minor road argument over a horn quickly escalated into a dangerous knife attack, leaving two young men seriously injured.

A small dispute over honking on the road near the Jali Beach area in Bhatkal took a deadly turn when members of one group launched a knife attack on four youths, seriously injuring two of them. Three accused have since been arrested and police have assured the public that further action is underway.
According to sources, the trouble started when two groups heading towards the Jali Beach side got into an argument over honking. What began as a minor road irritation quickly turned into a serious confrontation.
The accused reportedly arrived on cars and motorcycles, blocked the victims, hurled abuses at them and then launched a knife attack. Tauseef Khateeb was stabbed in the stomach, while Zuffaf Armar was attacked near the throat. Both sustained serious injuries and received medical attention.
The other two youths, Aoun and Waseem, were also reportedly assaulted during the incident.
Following the attack, a large number of local residents rushed to the Bhatkal town police station and filed a formal complaint, demanding the arrest of all those involved. The mood at the station was tense, with people expressing strong anger over the incident.
One person present at the station also referred to a similar incident that had reportedly taken place roughly a week before Ramzan. He claimed that at the time, the accused had come forward, apologised, and the matter was settled without any major legal action. This claim, however, has not been officially confirmed by police.
Residents made clear that such leniency cannot be repeated. “If peace is to be maintained in Bhatkal, the entire group must be arrested. This is extremely serious and cannot be ignored,” said those gathered.
They also warned that if full and proper action is not taken by authorities, they will take to the streets in protest.
Bhatkal Town Police Sub-Inspector Naveen Naik confirmed that an FIR has been registered in the case. Police have already arrested three accused and have assured residents that the remaining suspects will also be brought to justice very soon.
“Our actions will speak for themselves. Everyone will see what steps we take,” police officials stated, signalling a firm crackdown is in motion.
Further investigation is currently underway and more arrests are expected in the coming days.
