The Final Brick: A Sermon on the End of Prophethood
Friday sermon explains the Islamic belief that no prophet will come after Muhammad ﷺ and warns against false claimants.

A recent Friday sermon at a mosque in Bhatkal focused on a core Islamic belief: that Prophet Muhammad is the final messenger from God, and no prophet will come after him.
The speaker explained that this is clearly stated in the Quran. The Prophet Muhammad himself said his role was like the “final brick” in a perfect building—once placed, the structure is complete and nothing more can be added.
Why is there no need for another prophet?
- For Everyone: Previous prophets were sent to specific communities, but Prophet Muhammad was sent as a guide for all of humanity, for all time.
- The Guidance is Complete: The Quran and the Prophet’s teachings provide a full and perfect guide for life. The religion was declared complete by God.
- The Quran is Protected: Unlike earlier holy books that were changed over time, Muslims believe God has promised to protect the Quran from any alteration forever.
- Scholars Renew the Faith: The Prophet said that in every era, God will raise up knowledgeable scholars to clarify the teachings, correct misunderstandings, and keep the faith pure. This ongoing renewal removes the need for a new prophet.
A Clear Warning
The sermon gave a strong warning: anyone who claims to be a prophet or to receive new divine revelation after Prophet Muhammad is making a false claim. Believers were advised not to be confused by such people on social media or elsewhere, but to always consult trusted and learned Islamic scholars if they have questions.
The main message was to hold firmly to the belief in Prophet Muhammad as the final messenger, which is a foundation of Islamic faith.
