A brief period of tension was reported in Bhatkal after a flag installed near the Eidgah on Bandar Road was removed, leading to a confrontation between local residents and the police.

According to reports, a flag had been put up near the Eidgah area. When news spread that it had been taken down, a group of local youth gathered at the spot and strongly objected to its removal. They questioned why the flag near the Eidgah was removed without permission while similar flags in other parts of the town remained untouched.

Police officials reached the scene and engaged with the gathering in an attempt to calm the situation and address their concerns. The youth raised pointed questions, alleging that only a particular community’s flag was being targeted.

Authorities worked to bring the situation under control and prevent escalation. During the incident, the Bhatkal Municipal Chief Commissioner also arrived at the location and assured the crowd that flags installed in other areas would be removed within three days.

The youth warned that if this assurance is not fulfilled, they would resume protests and attempt to reinstall flags across various locations.

After discussions with local leaders and officials, the crowd eventually dispersed peacefully.

During the interaction, residents also demanded the removal of temporary shops set up around the Eidgah and called for better cleanliness in the area. They expressed frustration, stating that such concerns have been raised repeatedly over the years but have not been addressed effectively.
