Shridhar Shet Honored by Jamaat-e-Islami Hind; Calls for Protecting Human Values

BHATKAL 19 September 2025: Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Bhatkal branch, felicitated state award-winning teacher Shridhar Shet Shirali during the closing ceremony of their campaign, “Justice and Power – A Tribute to Prophet Muhammad.” The award was presented by Maulana Syed Zubair S.M., the president of the Jamaat.
Upon receiving the honor, Mr. Shirali expressed his deep gratitude, stating, “While I have been felicitated at many places after receiving the state award, today’s honor is truly special. It is because people from all communities have gathered here on one stage.”
In his speech, he raised concerns about the modern digital era, warning that “‘WhatsApp Universities’ are building walls between different religions.” He noted that people are so lost in the world of mobile phones that they are forgetting basic human compassion.
Using humorous examples, Mr. Shirali explained the negative impact of mobile addiction. “A son has 5,000 friends on Facebook, but not a single person comes to help in times of need,” he said. “Meanwhile, his father worries about building a house and arranging marriages by looking at his passbook. The daughter is lost in her photo gallery, while the mother is busy calculating her jewelry.”
He urged everyone not to forget human values in such a situation. “The feeling that we are all members of one family must become stronger,” he wished.
Organizers introduced Mr. Shirali as a multi-talented individual—a popular teacher, poet, writer, columnist, cartoonist, artist, public speaker, and personality development guide. They reminded the audience that the Karnataka government had honored him with the State’s Best Teacher Award for the year 2025-26.
Several notable personalities were present on the stage, including Sayeed Ismail, Zonal Convener of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Mangalore; Inayatullah Shabri, President of Tanzeem; Prof. R.S. Nayak; Dr. Savita Kamath; M.N. Naik, President of the Government Employees’ Association; senior Congress leader Rama Moger; Gangadhar Naik, President of the Kannada Sahitya Parishat; and Satish Kumar Naik, President of Sadbhavana Manch.
The program was hosted by M.R. Manvi, the convener of the Seerat campaign, and the vote of thanks was delivered by Secretary Abdul Rauf Savanur.
