In Islamic tradition, Salat Al-Istisqa is a special two-unit prayer performed to seek God’s mercy and rainfall during periods of dry weather. The prayer will be followed by a sermon, during which Sheikh Ad-Dossary is expected to encourage the congregation to repent sincerely and supplicate for rain.

The Royal Court has urged all residents to increase their acts of worship in the coming days, including seeking forgiveness, showing kindness to others, giving charity, performing extra prayers, and remembering God frequently.

The prayer comes as part of a broader effort across the Gulf region to address dry conditions. Kuwait held similar prayers on November 8, while the United Arab Emirates organized rain prayers on October 17 following a directive from President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed.
