Sheikh Saleh bin Humaid Reportedly Appointed New Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – According to breaking reports, Sheikh Dr. Saleh bin Humaid has been appointed as the new Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia. The appointment also includes the role of Head of the Senior Council of Scholars.
The decision was reportedly made by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. An official public announcement from the Royal Court is expected to be made very soon to confirm the appointment.
Sheikh bin Humaid is a highly respected and well-known figure throughout the Islamic world. He currently serves as an Imam and Khateeb (preacher) at the Grand Mosque (Masjid al-Haram) in Makkah and is a member of the Senior Council of Scholars. He has previously held other major roles, including Chairman of the Shura Council.
The position of Grand Mufti is the highest religious authority in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Grand Mufti provides guidance on Islamic law and has the authority to issue religious rulings, known as fatwas.
While sources have reported the news, the Royal Court has not yet issued a formal statement. The official confirmation is awaited.
