Shawwal Crescent Moon Sighted in Bhatkal; Eid ul Fitr to Be Observed on Friday, March 20
Both Qazis of Bhatkal confirm moon sighting; Eid prayers to be led by Moulana Khawaja Moinddin Akrami Madani

Bhatkal, March 19 – The Shawwal crescent moon has been officially sighted, with both Qazis of the Bhatkal confirming the sighting on the evening of Thursday, March 19. With this announcement, the holy month of Ramadan 1446 AH has come to a close, and Eid ul Fitr will be celebrated tomorrow, Friday, March 20.
The confirmation from both Qazis brings joy to the Muslim community of Bhatkal, as residents prepare to welcome one of the most significant occasions in the Islamic calendar.
Eid Prayer & Procession Details
As announced by the Eidgah Committee, the Eid ul Fitr congregation will be held at the Eidgah ground with the following schedule:
- 🕖 7:00 AM – Procession departs from Jama Masjid, passing through Khalifa Street towards the Eidgah
- 🕖 7:30 AM – Eid ul Fitr prayers begin at the Eidgah
The Eid prayer and sermon will be led by the Chief Qazi Khalifa Jamatul Muslimeen Bhatkal, Moulana Khawaja Moinuddin Akrami Madani.
The community is requested to join the procession on time and observe the Sunnah of reciting Takbeer from tonight through the morning of Eid.
