Saudi Arabia Unveils ‘Dream of the Desert’ – The Kingdom’s First Ultra-Luxury Train
The luxury train, set to launch in late 2026, will feature 31 private suites and showcase Italian craftsmanship blended with Saudi heritage.

Saudi Arabia has taken a major step in luxury tourism by revealing the design of its first ultra-luxury train service, “Dream of the Desert,” at the Future Investment Initiative conference in Riyadh.
The design showcase represents a significant milestone for the ambitious project, which is being developed by Italy’s Arsenale Group in partnership with Saudi Arabia Railways. Several government bodies are supporting the initiative, including the Ministry of Transport and Logistic Services, the Transport General Authority, the Ministry of Culture, and the Saudi Tourism Authority.
The luxury train service is scheduled to begin operations in late 2026 as part of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 plan to boost high-end tourism in the Kingdom.
Paolo Barletta, CEO of Arsenale, described the project as a unique blend of cultures. “Dream of the Desert is a moving masterpiece born from the dialogue between Italian craftsmanship and Saudi vision,” he said. He added that the train will take discerning travelers through Saudi Arabia’s stunning landscapes and rich traditions while celebrating the country’s heritage and local identity.

What to Expect on Board
The train will accommodate up to 66 guests across 31 private suites and two presidential suites. The interior design takes inspiration from Saudi Arabia’s desert landscapes, featuring warm desert colors, detailed wood carvings, and custom-made Murano glass lighting that resembles traditional oriental lanterns.
Passengers will enjoy dining in two restaurant cars, choosing between authentic Saudi cuisine and international dishes with Italian fusion elements. All meals will be prepared to Michelin-star standards. A central Majlis lounge will offer guests a comfortable space to relax and socialize.
A Transformation in Saudi Transportation
Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Transport and Logistics Services and Chairman of Saudi Arabia Railways, said the luxury train demonstrates the remarkable transformation happening in the Kingdom’s railway sector.
He explained that the project is part of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, which aims to introduce modern, tourism-focused transport options that improve quality of life for residents and visitors alike.
Al-Jasser also highlighted that the initiative shows growing foreign investment in Saudi Arabia’s transport sector, supported by leading international partners.
The train’s first journeys will last between one and two nights, departing from Riyadh and covering approximately 1,300 kilometers along existing railway lines.
