Bhatkal (FikroKhabar News): Petrol pumps across Bhatkal witnessed an unusual rush from Tuesday night, with long queues of vehicles forming at several fuel stations across the town. Many motorists were seen waiting for extended periods to refill their tanks as concern spread among residents about the availability of fuel.
Apart from filling their vehicles, several people were also seen storing petrol in cans and other containers. The scenes at many pumps reflected a sense of urgency and anxiety among customers.
The sudden rush appears to have been triggered by rumours circulating widely that petrol supplies could be affected if Iran blocks the Strait of Hormuz, a key global oil route. The speculation suggested that if supplies were disrupted, local fuel stocks could run out. At the same time, another rumour claiming that petrol prices may rise sharply in the near future further fuelled the panic.
As these messages spread quickly on social media and through word of mouth, many residents rushed to petrol stations as a precaution. People waiting in queues were also seen advising friends and relatives to fill their tanks without delay.
Meanwhile, fuel station owners in the city have not confirmed any disruption in petrol supply. Authorities have also not issued any official statement indicating a shortage of fuel or an immediate price increase.
For now, the rush appears to be largely driven by speculation rather than any confirmed supply issue.
