RAMALLAH – Buses carrying Palestinian prisoners released by Israel arrived in Ramallah on Tuesday, marking a key phase of a major prisoner exchange deal between Israel and Hamas.

Live footage showed the vehicles entering the West Bank city, where emotional reunions with families are expected to take place. The release follows the earlier handover of Israeli captives by Hamas to the Red Cross in Gaza.

Earlier in the day, buses had transported another group of released prisoners from the Negev Prison in southern Israel toward the Gaza Strip, where thousands had gathered to welcome them home.

The coordinated transfers represent the most significant prisoner exchange in years and come as part of a broader truce agreement. The released Palestinian detainees are expected to undergo medical checks before reuniting with their families.
