A bike taxi driver associated with Rapido has come under fire after allegedly refusing to give a ride to a Muslim passenger in New Delhi on the occasion of Eid.

The incident reportedly took place on March 21, when a journalist named Zain, originally from Kerala and currently based in the capital, booked a ride through the Rapido app. According to Zain, the driver identified as Subhash Rawat declined to proceed with the trip after learning about his religious identity.

In a video shared by Zain on social media platform X, he is heard asking the driver why he was being denied the ride. The driver allegedly responded that Muslims were not allowed in his vehicle and asked Zain to stop contacting him.

The video quickly spread online, drawing strong reactions from users. Many condemned the driver’s behavior and called for strict action, while also urging the company to ensure accountability.

Following the backlash, Rapido issued a public statement apologizing for the incident. The company described the driver’s actions as “completely unacceptable” and confirmed that it has started reviewing the matter.

Rapido further stated that it prioritizes passenger safety and is committed to providing a respectful and inclusive experience for all users.

The episode has once again highlighted concerns about discrimination faced by Muslims in everyday situations, including access to transport services.
