Quran Recitation and Hifz Competition Held at Masjid Tuba in Bhatkal
Students from night madrasas of Azad Nagar showcase Quranic learning in a well-attended religious competition.

Bhatkal (FikroKhabar News): A Quranic competition featuring Hifz-e-Muntakhab (selected memorisation), Nazira Quran (recitation) and Masnoon Duas was successfully organised on Saturday night at Masjid Tuba, Azad Nagar. The event was held under the supervision of Masjid Tuba and witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of various night madrasas (Shabina Makateb) in the Azad Nagar area.
Students from different mosques took part in the competition and confidently demonstrated their memorisation, recitation and understanding of Quranic verses and prescribed supplications, earning appreciation from the audience and judges.
The programme was attended by prominent guests, including Maulana Mohammad Ilyas Nadvi, President of the Azad Nagar Friends Association, and Maulana Shakeel Ahmed Shukri Nadvi, Imam of Jamaat-ul-Muslimeen, Manki, and Mohtamim of Madrasa Rahmania, Manki.
Addressing the gathering, Maulana Shakeel Shukri Nadvi said that children are a great blessing from Allah, but this blessing can be truly realised only when they are provided with proper religious, moral and faith-based upbringing. He stressed that in the present circumstances, night madrasas play a vital role in protecting children’s faith, beliefs, prayers and Islamic manners, especially as opportunities for religious education in modern schools have become increasingly limited.
He added that religious training given during childhood lays the foundation for a righteous generation and a strong society, and that the future of the community depends on this early nurturing.
Students who delivered outstanding performances in the competition were awarded prizes in recognition of their efforts and achievements.
Speaking on the occasion, Maulana Mohammad Ilyas Nadvi highlighted the importance and effectiveness of night madrasas in today’s challenging environment. Referring to current social conditions, he expressed concern over the growing influences leading children away from faith and values. He noted that various methods are being used in schools to divert children towards moral decline, with negative effects reaching into family life as well.
Maulana Nadvi described night madrasas as the most effective solution to this problem, stating that they provide children with education based on the Quran and Sunnah, along with strong Islamic values and moral training. He urged parents and community leaders to extend full support in strengthening and sustaining night madrasas for the benefit of future generations.
