Quick Action by Police and Youth Prevents Major Accident on Mangaluru Highway

MANGALURU: A major disaster was avoided on National Highway 66 thanks to the quick thinking of highway patrol police and a group of local youths. They worked together to promptly clear a large amount of gravel that had fallen from a truck near the Surathkal junction.
The incident occurred when Head Constable Mahantesh Kalliari and Driver Anand Metti from the highway patrol were on duty. They noticed that gravel stones had spilled from a truck and were scattered across a 100-meter stretch of the road, creating a serious hazard for drivers.
Understanding the danger, the officers immediately sought help from five to six young men from nearby shops. Together, they gathered about 10 baskets full of gravel, clearing the road and preventing what could have been a series of fatal accidents.
The National Highways Authority was called to the scene to remove the collected debris, making the highway safe for travel again.
The public has praised the police and the young volunteers for their timely and responsible actions. Their teamwork and dedication have been widely appreciated for ensuring the safety of the community.
