Patna, Bihar: Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Tuesday joined her brother Rahul Gandhi during his ongoing Voters’ Adhikar Yatra in Bihar, where she strongly attacked the ruling BJP, accusing it of trying to stay in power through “vote theft.”

Speaking to a large gathering in Supaul, Priyanka said that lakhs of poor people in Bihar have been unfairly removed from voter lists in the name of “Special Intensive Revision (SIR).” Raising her voice against the BJP, she declared, “We will not allow even a single vote of the poor to be stolen. The people’s right to vote cannot be taken away.”

Hindutva Politics and Priyanka’s Temple Visit

The Congress general secretary’s visit comes a day before she is scheduled to offer prayers at the famous Janaki Temple in Sitamarhi. The temple has recently drawn political attention after Union Home Minister Amit Shah laid the foundation for a new grand Sita temple there earlier this month.

Analysts say Priyanka’s temple visit is aimed at countering the BJP’s Hindutva narrative in the poll-bound state. The massive crowd that turned up for her yatra on Tuesday included a large number of women, giving the opposition INDIA bloc leaders visible momentum ahead of the elections.

Rahul Gandhi on Fair Elections

Rahul Gandhi, who is leading the 16-day-long march across Bihar, said the opposition alliance is united in its fight against the NDA government and will not let the Election Commission act under BJP’s influence.

“Every genuine voter must be included. We will ensure that no one is excluded because of political pressure,” Rahul told supporters. His march will end on September 1 with a major rally scheduled in Patna.

Support from Allies

The Congress yatra in Supaul saw participation from other INDIA bloc leaders as well. Six-time MP Pappu Yadav, Independent Lok Sabha member from Purnia, extended his support alongside leaders from RJD and CPI-ML, who worked together with Congress workers throughout the event.

The gathering highlighted the opposition’s joint efforts to challenge the BJP’s dominance in the state and to build momentum ahead of the elections.
