New Delhi: After returning from his two-day visit to Bhutan on Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi went straight to the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital in Delhi to meet those injured in the recent Red Fort blast.

At the hospital, the Prime Minister spoke with the victims and wished them a speedy recovery. During his Bhutan visit, PM Modi had already expressed deep sorrow over the car explosion that took place near Delhi’s Red Fort and assured that the government would ensure “the strictest action” against the perpetrators.

Speaking in Thimphu, Modi said, “A tragic incident has occurred in Delhi. I can understand the pain of the families who have lost their loved ones. I have come here with a heavy heart. The entire nation stands with the affected families in this hour of grief. Our agencies will conduct a thorough investigation and bring all those responsible to justice.”

Meanwhile, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has formed a special 10-member team to probe the blast near the Red Fort Metro Station. Sources said the team will be headed by NIA Additional Director General Vijay Sakre and will include one Inspector General, two Deputy Inspector Generals, three Superintendents of Police, and other officers at the Deputy SP level.

This development came a day after the Ministry of Home Affairs officially handed over the investigation of the Delhi blast to the NIA.

The explosion took place on the evening of November 10 near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station, where a Haryana-registered car blew up, killing at least eight people and injuring 20 others.

Investigating agencies are also monitoring social media activity and collecting mobile phone dump data from across Delhi. Police sources said data from phones active in and around the Red Fort area are being analyzed to trace possible communication links related to the car bombing.
