Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh – A serious railway accident occurred on Tuesday evening when a passenger train collided with a goods train near Bilaspur station, injuring several people and leaving some passengers trapped under the damaged coaches.

The accident took place around 4 PM when a MEMU (Mainline Electric Multiple Unit) passenger train traveling from Gevra in Korba district to Bilaspur hit a goods train from behind. The collision happened between Gatora and Bilaspur railway stations.

According to railway officials, at least three people were injured in the crash. However, police sources suggest the number of injured could be higher, with some passengers still stuck under one of the train coaches.

Visuals from the accident site show a passenger train coach mounted on top of a goods train wagon, highlighting the severity of the impact.

Railway authorities have rushed emergency teams to the location and are working to rescue the trapped passengers. Medical treatment is being provided to the injured, some of whom have already been moved to nearby hospitals.

A senior police official confirmed that rescue operations are underway to free those still trapped. The exact number of injured passengers has not been disclosed yet.
