Orange Alert in Uttara Kannada: Heavy Rain, Thunderstorms Likely for 24 Hours
The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Bengaluru, has issued an Orange Alert for Uttara Kannada district for the next 24 hours. The alert is in force from 1:00 PM on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, to 1:00 PM on Wednesday, August 20, 2025.
According to the district-wise weather bulletin, parts of coastal and Malnad Karnataka, including Uttara Kannada, are likely to experience heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds. Rainfall may be in the range of moderate to heavy at several places, with a few intense spells possible. Lightning activity is also expected.

- Be prepared for disruptions to travel, especially on coastal and ghat roads.
- Waterlogging is possible in low-lying areas; avoid venturing into swollen streams and beaches.
