On World Food Day, Gaza Still Starves as Israel Cuts Aid
Despite a ceasefire, only a trickle of aid is getting through, leaving thousands of children malnourished amid the ruins.

Despite a ceasefire agreement, people in Gaza are still going hungry because not enough food aid is being allowed into the territory.
As part of the truce deal, Israel had promised to allow 600 aid trucks into Gaza every day. However, it has now cut that number in half, to only 300 trucks per day.
According to United Nations data from October 10-16, the situation is even worse. During that period, only 216 trucks actually made it to their destinations inside Gaza. Truck drivers report that Israeli inspections are causing major delays, leaving lines of aid trucks waiting at the border.
The situation is especially dire in northern Gaza. A UNICEF spokesperson said thousands of people who have returned to the area are finding “total destruction” and are in “desperate need” of food and water.
She warned that 28,000 children were diagnosed with malnutrition in just July and August, with thousands more cases since. She urged Israel to “open all the border crossings now” to let aid flow at the scale needed to prevent a greater catastrophe.
