Bhatkal, 17 February 2026 | Fikrokhabar News – The crescent moon of Ramadan 1447 Hijri was not sighted in Bhatkal on Tuesday evening, 17th February 2026, according to local Qazis and religious scholars.

As the moon could not be confirmed, the first fast of Ramadan will not begin on Wednesday. Instead, the month of Sha’ban will complete its 30 days, and Ramadan will officially begin on Thursday, 19th February 2026. Taraweeh prayers in mosques across the city will also start on Wednesday night, after Isha Salah.

The Qazis and scholars of Bhatkal have urged the Muslim community to wait for the official announcement and follow the confirmed sighting before beginning their fasts.

Ramadan is the holiest month in the Islamic calendar, the month in which the Holy Quran was revealed. Muslims around the world observe fasting from dawn to sunset, offer extra prayers, recite the Quran, and increase acts of charity and worship throughout this blessed month.
