No Disruption in LPG Supply in Uttara Kannada, Public Urged Not to Panic: DC K. Lakshmipriya
District administration says cooking gas supply is normal despite Middle East tensions.

Karwar: The Uttara Kannada district administration has assured the public that there is no disruption in the supply of domestic cooking gas in the district despite the ongoing tensions in the Middle East.
District Collector K. Lakshmipriya said that the supply and distribution of LPG cylinders for household use are continuing normally and residents should not panic or believe unnecessary rumours.
She made the statement while chairing a meeting on Thursday with officials from major gas supply companies and the Food Department to review the situation.
The meeting was held virtually with representatives of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, and Indian Oil Corporation Limited, which supply LPG cylinders to the district.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner directed the companies to ensure that domestic LPG supply continues as per the daily demand in the district. Company representatives informed that there are currently no issues in the supply system. They added that a minor technical problem had affected advance gas bookings for one day, but the issue has now been resolved.
Officials also informed that consumers can book LPG cylinders through multiple methods, including IVRS, WhatsApp, mobile applications, and payment apps, instead of relying only on the mobile missed-call booking system.
The district administration also instructed suppliers to prioritise LPG supply to essential institutions such as anganwadis, schools, hospitals, government hostels, and Indira Canteen to ensure that their daily operations are not affected.
The Deputy Commissioner further directed suppliers to follow government guidelines regarding the supply and distribution of commercial cylinders. She also urged the public not to believe or spread false information about gas shortages circulating on social media.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Dilish Shashi, Deepan M. N., Sajid Mulla, and Manjunath Revanakar, along with officials from gas supply companies and distributors from various taluks in the district.
