NIA Releases Four, Including Three Doctors, After Finding No Link to Delhi Blast
Investigators say no evidence connects the detained individuals to the Red Fort area explosion.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday released four people — among them three doctors — after hours of detailed questioning related to the recent blast near Delhi’s Red Fort. Officials said the inquiry did not reveal any connection between the individuals and the incident.
The four had been taken into custody earlier this week as part of a wider series of searches and interviews conducted nationwide following the explosion. Their detention raised concerns among civil society groups, especially because medical professionals and young workers were among those questioned in the initial phase.
According to NIA officials, the questioning was routine and based on early leads that needed verification. “After a thorough check, we found no link to the Delhi blast. They have been released,” an official said on condition of anonymity.
Families of the detained doctors expressed relief but also described the experience as deeply distressing. One relative said, “They were taken in without clear information. We are glad they are back home, but the stress of the last two days has been overwhelming.”
Legal experts noted that such detentions reflect a recurring pattern in terror-related probes, where individuals from minority communities often face scrutiny before eventually being cleared. Rights organisations have urged investigative agencies to act with greater care and transparency to avoid unnecessary trauma and reputational damage.
Meanwhile, the NIA continues to explore other leads as the investigation moves forward. Officials said all possibilities remain open, and more details are expected soon.
