Nationwide Protests Held Across India in Support of Palestine

In a show of nationwide solidarity, people across India gathered in large numbers to express support for Palestine. From Delhi to Kolkata, and in cities like Mumbai, Hyderabad, Pune, Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, and Chandigarh, peaceful protests were held under the banner of Indian People in Solidarity with Palestine (IPSP).
The demonstrations were part of the Global Sumud Flotilla initiative and aligned with the international Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) campaign aimed at pressuring Israel over its occupation of Palestinian territories.
These protests were organized through the combined efforts of various people’s movements and grassroots organizations. Participants included students, youth, workers, and progressive groups such as Disha Students’ Union, Naujawan Bharat Sabha, Bharatiya Biplobi Sramik Party, Stri Mukti League, and the Delhi State Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Union.
The Sumud Flotilla—a peaceful humanitarian mission carrying food and medical supplies to Gaza—was reportedly targeted by two drone attacks. Protesters condemned these attacks, calling them another example of what they described as Israel’s aggressive and illegal occupation.
In a joint statement, the organizing groups criticized the repeated targeting of humanitarian aid flotillas, noting that previous missions were intercepted, with volunteers either deported or detained under harsh conditions.
Speaking on behalf of IPSP, activist Vishal strongly condemned the attacks and praised the courage of those aboard the flotilla. “The determination of the volunteers shows that imperialist forces cannot break the spirit and unity of people fighting for justice. Global solidarity remains strong in the face of such oppression,” he said.
The widespread participation in these protests reflects growing public awareness and support for the Palestinian cause across India.
